Iodine nutrition experts gathered last week in Islamabad organized by the Nutrition Section of the Planning Commission in collaboration with GAIN and UNICEF. Justus de Jong represented ICCIDD GN and urged practical guidelines for production and storage of iodized salt and improved Quality Management Systems. Pakistani regulators promised to improve quality control enforcement and market surveillance. GAIN's Lorenzo Locatelli Rossi identified salt iodization as the preferred IDD solution and GAIN's Pakistani representative, Chaudhry Faiz Rasool described GAIN's partnerships to promote product quality.
