A new report from a 2012 meeting in Sydney, Australia of WHO, The George Institute and the ICCIDD Global Network demonstrates the potential to synergize both programs to ensure optimal implementation of each. Commonalities between the two programs are that both are geared towards improving public health through a population-wide approach. Also, both adopt a multistakeholder approach and encompass health promotion, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation; all of which involve working closely with the food industry.
